Vandalism in a Neighborhood; Squatter on Coopers Run: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

Residents in Meadowood woke up June 7 to find vandals with rocks had targeted their lamp posts overnight.

Police said a number of homes on Pebble Brook Lane and Gate Post Drive were damaged by rocks. 

One resident also reported his truck was keyed.

That area has been hit with graffiti in recent weeks, as well.

Squatting on Coopers Run

A neighbor alerted police to people in a vacant foreclosed house on Coopers Run about 10:30 p.m. June 9.

Police stopped the intruders' car as it left the area, and found a woman inside was wanted by Rocky River police.

Officers also found windows and a sliding door open at the Coopers Run house. The woman said she left them open so she could get in and out.

Police said located a lantern in the house and said it looks like someone has been living there. They were able to secure the home.

A Hand for Babies

An anonymous caller was concerned June 9 that kids might try to handle two tiny raccoons on a sidewalk on Camden Drive.

An officer used a shovel to move the critters into a thicket.

Crying Man Gets Help

A woman told police she came across a man in tears carrying a small dog on Pearl Road about 6 p.m. June 9.

When she asked him where he lived, he started crying harder and said he was homeless, a report said.

He was carrying a black dog and a box with fishing lures. She dropped him off at the Towers of Fallingwater.

Meanwhile, the woman's wife reported the man missing, saying he had gone out to walk the dog and she couldn't find him.

Police located him on Pearl Road and got him safely home.

No Wait, Don't Walk

A malfunction in a traffic signal was telling pedestrians to cross Royalton and Howe roads while traffic was coming June 7.

Police found there was an electrical problem and notified the Service Department, which called in the city's traffic engineers and CEI.

Cars Meet

A woman on Fair Road wanted police to do something about the fact that ever few weeks, a couple of people in cars meet in front of her house, talk and then leave.

They don't exchange anything, a report said.

Officers told the woman it didn't appear to be a police matter.
