Warm Weather Leads to 3 Burglaries, 2 Car Break-Ins on One Street

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Four houses on South Drive were targeted by an alleged burglar early Wednesday morning.

The first call for help came in about 4:30 a.m., when a couple said they heard someone in their kitchen. 

The intruder fled through the kitchen window.

At the time the call came in, officers were questioning a man they had found walking near , 8952 Pearl Rd. When they heard the call about the burglary, they took the man into custody for further questioning.

Detective Lt. John Janowski said police are pursuing charges against the man, who lives in Cleveland and was staying at a hotel on Pearl Road that night.

Three other incidents on South Drive that morning were then discovered.

In one, a burglar entered a house and stole jewelry and a TV set while the resident slept. 

In another, someone attempted to get into a house but failed. In the other, two cars in a driveway were entered, but nothing was taken.

Janowski said the burglaries took place on a warm night, and the residents had left their windows open when they went to bed, allowing the intruder to simply slide open the glass and screen to get inside.
