City Settles Dispute with Architect over Police Station Plans

Strongsville, Bowen come to terms on payment

The city and has agreed to pay Richard L. Bowen and Associates an extra $72,000 for renovations to the police station and City Council chambers -- far less than Bowen was seeking.

Bowen has been asking the city to come up with an additional $196,000 for changes in the scope of the project the city sought after it was contracted.

City Council approved the new amount Monday, bringing Bowen's fee from $575,000 to $647,000.

"We were able to save some tax dollars with this," Council President Mike Daymut said.

Bowen designed an update to city offices at the corner of Pearl and Royalton roads, expanding the council chambers and mayor's court and turning the former fire station into a new 50,000-square-foot
