Pearl Road Construction Could Wrap Up in June

Mayor says concrete will be poured as soon as weather breaks.

Mayor Tom Perciak isn't making any promises, but he said he is hopeful construction on Pearl Road can wrap up by the end of June.

"We're doing everything we can to get that done by June 30," he told members of the business community at a networking breakfast Thursday.

Perciak said crews were doing what they could during the snowy weather and will "pour concrete as soon as the weather allows."

"We need dry weather," he said.

Traffic has dodged orange barrels on the southern section of Pearl since last March. The project will widen Pearl Road to five lanes from where it narrows at the post office to a point about 700 feet south of Drake Road.

Work started at Drake and has progressed north. About two months ago, traffic was shifted onto the new lanes while the old lanes are paved.
