• There were about 16,000 households in Strongsville, and 73 percent of them were filled with families. About 65 percent were married-couple families.

• The city had 17,000 housing units -- 4 percent of which were vacant -- and 84 percent of which were single-family structures. About 34 percent of the housing units were built since 1990.
• 2 percent of the households did not have telephone service, and 4 percent did not have access to a motor vehicle. On the other hand, 46 percent of households had two vehicles and another 22 percent had three or more.
People
• Some 91 percent of the population was born in the United States, with 73 percent born in Ohio.
Although only 9 percent of the residents were foreign-born, 12 percent spoke a language other than English at home. Of those, 30 percent reported they did not speak English very well.
• Of people 25 and older, 95 percent graduated high school, and 41 percent had a bachelor's degree or higher.
• Median age of the city's population was 42.6, with 25 percent of the residents under 18 and 15 percent 65 and older.
• Some 92 percent of residents were white; 5 percent were Asian and 2 percent was black or African American.
Work
• Employed people 16 and older worked first in educational services, health care and social assistance (21 percent) followed by manufacturing (15 percent).
• The most common occupations were management or professional; sales and office; and service occupations.
• It's a drive-alone city -- 84 percent of workers drove alone to work, 7 percent carpooled, 2 percent took public transportation and 3 percent used other means. The other 4 percent worked at home.
• Median income of households was $78,745.
• About 4 percent of the the population lived below the poverty level.
