Bands, Orchestras Score Well in Competition

Groups get Superior, Excellent ratings

The Wind Ensemble received a Superior rating at the Ohio Music Education Association District 4 Large Group Adjudicated Event and will move on the the state contest April 27-28 in North Royalton.

The Symphonic, Concert and Freshman bands all received an Excellent rating at the competition, which was hosted by the Strongsville High School Music Department March 9-10.

At the State Orchestra Contest March 2 and 3 at Lakewood High School, the SHS Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Strings earned Superior ratings, while the String Orchestra won an Excellent rating.

The All City Orchestra Festival will is set for Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday,  March 29 at the Strongsville High School Auditorium. All are welcome to attend.

Also, the Symphony Orchestra will perform in a clinic session with the Director of Orchestras at the Vandercook College of Music in Chicago March 30 through April 1. While they are visiting Chicago they will attend a Chicago Symphony Orchestra Performance and the Blueman Group.

Also mark your calendars for April 17-18 for the All City Band Concerts at Strongsville High School in the main gym at 7 p.m. Tuesday's concert will feature Chapman, Muraski and Zellers Elementary School bands along with the Albion eighthth grade band and SHS Wind Ensemble. Wednesday's concert will feature Drake, Kinsner, Surrarrer and Whitney Elementary School bands along with Center eighth grade band and the SHS Symphonic Band.
