Order Deadline Looms for Strongsville-Opoly

Hurry to get the creative board game, which will feature city landmarks, businesses and streets, and help with fall athletes' pay-to-play sports fees

Fundraisers come in all shapes and sizes. Just ask the creators of Strongsville-Opoly.

To help student athletes with upcoming pay-to-play fees this fall, the Strongsville Football League (SFL) has partnered with Panda Promotions to create the board game, which is modeled after Milton Bradley’s Monopoly, coordinator and athletic booster club member Tammy Pritchard said.

The design will feature the familiar Monopoly look, except folks will see Strongsville teams, sports clubs, landmarks and businesses on the board’s squares vs. Boardwalk or Reading Railroad.

To match sponsors with different aspects of the game, banks, for instance, will sponsor the Strongsville-Opoly money and the names of local realtors and developers will appear on the home and hotel game pieces.

“Athletes who need a little help with their fees will certainly get a boost from this creative fundraiser,” Pritchard said. “The games will be shipped out in the fall, and could make for great stocking stuffers this Christmas.”

The pre-order deadline is August 15. Games will cost $35 apiece and the order form can be found at www.strongsvillefootballleague.com. As a bonus, folks will also receive a coupon book worth hundreds of dollars in savings that can be redeemed at several of the city’s restaurants and businesses.

Pritchard hopes to see some more orders roll in to help chip away at the pay-to-play fees that range from $300 for middle school athletes to $400 at the high school level.

Prospective sponsors still have time to help the cause as well, she said. For more information, contact April Thomas of Panda Promotions at 330-468-1105.
