Strongsville Schools Hire Interim Treasurer

Denise Holcomb will serve until permanent replacement is hired

The Strongsville School Board has hired a former treasurer from Avon Lake City Schools to handle finance here for the next few months.

Denise Holcomb was offered the job of interim treasurer at a special meeting Monday night, School Board President David Frazee said.

Holcomb retired from Avon Lake in February. She , and before that worked at Port Clinton Local Schools.

She will start July 30, two days before current treasurer Bill Parkinson leaves. he was resigning to take a job at Willoughby-Eastlake Schools.

Frazee said the school board needed to bring on an interim treasurer while the search for a permanent treasurer continues.

"We wanted sufficient time to find the right person (for the permanent appointment)," he said. "We didn't want to be rushed."

A consultant hired by the district has found about a dozen candidates for that position, and Frazee said the board expect to start interviews in a few weeks.

Holcomb is not expected to be among those candidates.

"As I understand it, she had no intention of taking a full-time job again," Frazee said.
