Freecycle June 11: Get Sports Stuff You Need, Get Rid of What You Don't

Girl Scout organizes give-and-take event

The city and a local Girl Scout have organized a Sports Equipment Freecycle from 9 a.m. to noon June 11 in the parking lot.

The rules of freecycle: Bring what you want to give away, and help yourself to what you need.

Jennifer Milbrandt, Strongsville's coordinator of natural resources, said the Sports Freecycle is a great way to help other Strongsville families get use out of gently used sports equipment -- cleats, ball gloves, bats, shin guards -- your kids have outgrown.

So she met with Milbrandt and the two came up with the freecycle idea.

Milbrandt asks participants to use proper freestyle etiquette: Don't contribute broken or damaged equipment, and take only what you need.

Any items left after noon will be donated to charity.
