Patch Gives Back: Ringing the Bell for the Salvation Army

Strongsville Patch supports the organization's Christmas in July campaign

A lot of people did a double-take at the Christmas trees.

But most smiled when they got it: The Salvation Army brought out its traditional red kettles for a campaign at because the need for its services is year-round.

A number of volunteers rang the bell during the campaign, including Strongsville Patch Editor Debbie Palmer.

Patch has a community volunteering program called "Patch Gives Back."

The Salvation Army and SouthPark kicked off the event July 13 with an appearance by Santa Claus. There were also other special programs, including a Singing Angels concert and a visit from Star Wars characters.

The Salvation Army hopes to raise $270,000 with the mid-year campaign.
