Kinsner scouts display 'whirled peace' reminders at Ehrnfelt Recreation Center
Daisy Troop 70576 and Brownie Troop 77160 are participating in today's worldwide Pinwheels for Peace project.
The organization's annual event centers on the simple idea of displaying hand-crafted pinwheels in public places as a means to promote peace. The arrangement reflects tranquility and, at the same time, art.
According to the Pinwheels for Peace website, the concept has grown from 500,000 pinwheels in 2005 to more than 3.5 million in 2010.

"Peace doesn’t necessarily have to be associated with the conflict of war, it can be related to violence/intolerance in our daily lives, to peace of mind."
Troop co-leader Kaeleen Cunningham was looking for community service ideas and after some research, found the cause. Crafted at a recent meeting, the colorful pieces were penned with each scout's definition of what peace means.

For Delaney Cunningham, age 8, her thoughts went global. She wrote, "Peace means to stop war."
Laura Ryder co-leads the Daisy troop with Cunningham. The Brownie troop is led by Cunningham and Jackie Tinscher.
